ADMISSIONS PROCEDURES AND CONTACTS

 

 

Undergraduate

 

To be admitted as a freshman or as an undergraduate transfer student, student must apply to the university through Undergraduate Admissions http://admissions.fiu.edu/how.apply.php

You can only submit your application once. If you have updates to any information you submitted or any questions please notify the admissions office immediately (email: admiss@fiu.edu or phone: 305-348-2363).

Once students have been admitted to the University they are eligible to apply for lower division or upper division status through their desired College/School.

 

Health Services Administration:

 

Full admissions into the upper division Health Services Administration program consist of the following:

  • 60 semester credit hours

  • 2.0 GPA

  • Completed CLAST

Dietetics and Nutrition:

 

To be admitted as a freshman or as an undergraduate transfer student, student must apply to the university through Undergraduate Admissions http://admissions.fiu.edu/application.htm.

Once students have been admitted to the University they are eligible to apply for lower division or upper division status through their desired College/School.


Full admissions into the upper division Dietetics and Nutrition program, Didactic Track, consist of the following:

  • 60 credits semester hours

  • 2.0 GPA

  • Completed CLAST.

Admissions to the Dietetics and Nutrition Program, Coordinated Track, consist of the following:

  • Student must first be admitted to the Dietetics and Nutrition program

  • A separate application, specifically for the Coordinated Program, must be submitted by March 1st, when eligibility requirements are met. This application may be obtained directly from the Dietetics and Nutrition Department.

  • Criteria used for ranking CP applicants include: grades received in prerequisite courses, work experience (preferably dietetics-related), completeness and style of written application, and a personal letter.

  • Student must have completed all prerequisite courses and the successful completion of DIE 3005 - Orientation to Dietetics and DIE 3434 - Nutrition Education / Lab.

Social Work:

 

To be admitted as a freshman or as an undergraduate transfer student, student must apply to the university through Undergraduate Admissions http://admissions.fiu.edu/application.htm.

 

Full admissions into the upper division Social Work program consist of the following:

 

  • Student must complete college-level courses in biology (including coverage of Human Biology) and statistics, 12 semester hours in the social and behavioral sciences, which must include one course each in sociology, psychology, economics and American government and eight to ten hours in a foreign language.
  • To qualify for admission to the program, FIU undergraduates must have met all the lower division requirements including CLAST, completed 60 semester hours, have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 and must be otherwise acceptable into the program.
