Background
In the course of her career, she has worked as a substance abuse counselor and as the Chief Trainer for the National Institute of Drug Abuse Southeast Regional Training Center. She has also served as consultant and trainer to substance abuse programs including the Drug Dependence Institute at Yale University and the NIDA Northeast and Southwest Regional Training Centers. She is an active member of several national, state, and local organizations including the National Association of Social Workers and the Council on Social Work Education. As Associate Director of the FIU School of Social Work, she has coordinated the BSSW and MSW programs and chaired the self-study for CSWE reaccreditation.

She teaches practice courses in family, groups, and diversity as well as self-awareness.
