PUBLIC HEALTH WEEK

April 6 – 10, 2009 is Public Health week. The Robert Stempel College of Public Health and Social Work in conjunction with the Public Heath Student Association has put together many events and lectures geared towards helping you promotion public health at home, in the workplace, and at school. Some of the topics include: global public health, HIV/AIDS in Miami, public health at work, public health at home, and public heath preparedness and emergency response. On Tuesday, April 7th, from 4 – 8pm the College will be hosting Communication and Policy day; a four hour seminar that will assist health professionals in communicating public health messages to the community and the media. This event will have seminars on building press kits, going digital, media training, an overview of the Miami media, and press release writing. Please contact Monica Cabrera mcabr007@fiu.edu to RSVP for this event. Don’t forget to stop by the MARC building to view the “Against the Odds: Making a difference in Global Health” travelling exhibit, provided by the National Library of Medicine and Association of Schools of Public Health. The exhibit will be up all week.
