THE ROBERT STEMPEL SCHOOL OF PUBLIC HEALTH ALUMNI RECEPTION

Miami, Fla.  –On Friday, March 7, 2008 at 6:00 p.m., the Robert Stempel School of Public Health (SSPH) at Florida International University will be hosting its annual Alumni Reception in the MARC Building Pavilion at the University Park Campus.

The Robert Stempel School of Public Health (SSPH) is proud to be a part of Florida International University’s commitment to addressing the health care needs of the local community. As one of the 39 nationally CEPH accredited schools of Public Health in the United States, they are the second school in Florida to receive this recognition.  The school is committed to train and educate the future public health workforce and to meet the needs for creating an effective public health system. SSPH is proud of its growing number of alumni, close to 2,400 professionals, who have graduated from its prestigious programs.

All of the school’s alumni have been invited to this extraordinary event, which is a great networking opportunity for them to meet and greet with other alumni, faculty and staff. Wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served and several outstanding door prizes will be provided by FIU’s office of Alumni Relations and the SSPH.
The school will be honoring the memory of SSPH graduate Katie Evans, who passed away last year. The Katie Evans Memorial Scholarship will also be awarded by the Katie Memorial Foundation, whose representatives will present this recognition and a one-time stipend of $1,500.  The Alpha Omega Katie Evans Outstanding Leadership Award will be awarded by FIU’s Alpha Omega chapter of the national public health professional honors society, Delta Omega.
Feel free to contact the SSPH Office of Student and Alumni Affairs at 305-348-7777 or via e-mail phalumni @fiu.edu, or you can also visit the website at http://ssph.fiu.edu.
