Background
Jessy Dévieux, Ph.D., is a Haitian American clinical psychologist who is Research Associate Professor of Public Health at Florida International University, and Co-Director of Florida International University AIDS Prevention Program (APP). Dr. Dévieux has considerable experience in the development and implementation of HIV risk reduction interventions. She is the Principal Investigator of two NIH funded studies (one by NIDA and one by NIAAA) designed to reduce HIV risk behaviors among juvenile offenders and is Co-Principal Investigator on one NICHD-funded study designed to replicate the BART intervention with Haitian youth. In addition, she is Co-PI on several other NIH-funded studies designed to reduce HIV risk behaviors among vulnerable populations of adolescents, severely mentally ill adults, and HIV+ recovering drug abusers. Dr. Dévieux has extensive experience in managing complex research projects and in adapting and translating interventions designed for one population to other culturally distinct groups both in the U.S. and internationally. She is currently implementing research projects in Haiti, in Trinidad, and in South Africa.
