Background
Prior to becoming an Assistant Professor and Broward Program Coordinator in Health Services Administration for FIU, Dr. Deckard was engaged as an Assistant Professor at the University of Missouri where she earned an "Outstanding Teacher Award".
Additional acclaim followed in 1993, when she was appointed by the Governor of Florida to the Patient Outcomes Workgroup Agency for Health Care Administration.
Dr. Deckard continues to receive recognition for excellence in scholarship and was recently awarded a Professional Development Fellowship Award by the States of Florida's Department of Educational Leadership Enhancement Grant Program.
In addition, Dr. Deckard acts as a reviewer for numerous periodicals including: Medical Care Policy Studies Review, Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology and is presently working on a Health Care Committee for the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce.
