1. To prepare graduates for successful entry into and completion of a supervised practice program, to gain employment, &/or pursue graduate education
1.1 Program completion rates*
70% graduate within 4 years of successfully completing HUN 4240 Nutrition & Biochemistry.
Procedure for Evaluation:
Program Director will annually track students enrolled in the DPD and document completion rate of following enrollment in HUN 4240.
1.2 Scores on comprehensive exam
75% of students will pass Undergraduate comprehensive exam on the first or second sitting
Procedure for Evaluation:
Faculty member assigned to comprehensive exam course will track performance each semester.
1.3 RD exam scores*
80% of graduates will pass the Registration Examination for Dietitians on the first sitting.
Procedure for Evaluation:
Program Director will receive semi-annual examination results, as well as one five-year summary annually.
1.4 Student learning experience satisfaction
85% of students will be satisfied with program and learning experiences
Procedure for Evaluation:
Comprehensive Exam instructor will distribute Senior Exit Survey
1.5 Pursuit supervised practice programs*
50% of students requesting a DPD verification statement applying to supervised practice programs will be admitted.
Procedure for Evaluation:
Each semester Department Program Assistant accepts applications for a verification statement, prepares documentation of program completion and processes forms for Program Director’s verification/signature. These students will be tracked as DPD graduates pursuing RD status.
1.6 Pursuit of post-graduate options*
40% of graduates will pursue non-RD options in industry, graduate school, or professional programs.
Procedure for Evaluation:
Each semester Department Program Exit Survey and graduate survey will be used to track DPD graduates not pursuing RD status.
2. Provide education to FIU’s diverse student population to meet the needs of multicultural South Florida.
2.1 Ethnicity of DPD students
50% of enrollees will be Hispanic, African-American, Caribbean-American, or Haitian-American
