Coordinated Program (cp) in Dietetics outcomes and Assessments

1. To prepare graduates for entry-level positions in general dietetics which will utilize their knowledge, skills, and competencies in dietetics, as well as their critical thinking and problem solving skills.
1.1 Program completion rates*
85% of students will complete the curriculum sequence once admitted.
Procedure for Evaluation:
Program Director will annually track students enrolled in the CP and document completion rate of each cohort.
1.2 RD Exam results*
80% of graduates will pass the Registration Examination for Dietitians on the first sitting.
Procedure for Evaluation:
Program Director will receive semi-annual examination results, as well as one five-year summary annually.
1.3 Graduate employment in field or advanced/professional education*
80% of graduates will find employment in the field or acceptance to advanced/professional education within six months of graduation.
Procedure for Evaluation:
Program Director will survey graduates one year post graduation
1.4 Scores on Undergraduate comprehensive exam
100 % of students will pass Undergraduate comprehensive exam on the first or second sitting
Procedure for Evaluation:
Faculty member assigned to comprehensive exam course will provide Program Director pass results and examination question analysis.
1.5 Student satisfaction with learning experiences
85% of students will be satisfied with program
Procedure for Evaluation: Comprehensive Exam instructor will distribute Senior Exit Survey
1.6 Student satisfaction with supervised practice learning experiences
90% of students will be satisfied with supervised practice learning experiences
Procedure for Evaluation: Each semester students complete survey “Clinical Station Evaluation” form.
Question 2c “I think I was used in a position of student dietitian which was appropriate for learning experiences.” Instructors review placement results with Program Director (PD)/Clinical Coordinator and PD maintains for files
1.7 Preceptor validation of supervised practice experiences
90% of preceptors are satisfied with student supervised practice experiences
Procedure for Evaluation:
Biannual campus meetings of preceptors and CP instructors to discuss practice strengths and weaknesses. Organized yearly by Clinical Coordinator in Spring or Summer term
Program Director/CP instructor utilized structured interview process with preceptors in each facility to discuss practice strengths and weaknesses
2. To provide education to FIU’s diverse student population to meet the needs of multicultural South Florida.
2.1 Ethnicity of CP students
40% of enrollees will be Hispanic, African-American, Caribbean-American, or Haitian-American
Procedure for Evaluation: Each Fall, enrollment figures collected.
3. To graduate individuals prepared to meet challenges in the profession.
3.1 Professional association leadership activities
30% of graduates will participate in leadership roles in professional organizations
3.2 Career satisfaction
80% of graduates are satisfied with dietetics as a career choice
